A five‑hour SWAT standoff in Miramar ended with police taking a man into custody after he barricaded himself inside a home with a knife during a mental‑health call. Negotiators eventually persuaded him to surrender, and he was taken from the home on a stretcher before being booked into the Broward County Jail on charges of aggravated assault and simple battery.
