Nutrition moguls sell waterfront Coconut Grove mansion for $72M

Shaklee Corp. CEO Roger Barnett and his wife, journalist Sloan Barnett, sold their waterfront Coconut Grove mansion for $71.9 million, marking the latest high-priced trade in the popular Miami neighborhood.

The Barnetts sold the 10,400-square-foot, seven-bedroom and eight-bathroom home at 3085 Munroe Drive to a trust managed by Greenberg Traurig attorney Benjamin Babcock and Mary McFadden Quisenberry, chief operating officer at San Francisco-based Rosewood Family Advisors.

The Barnetts’ ownership of the property was revealed by The Real Deal when they acquired the nearly 1-acre property from billionaire businessman Jorge Mas in 2021 for $45.9 million. That means the Barnetts sold their Coconut Grove home for over 60 percent more than their purchase price nearly five years ago.

The house was completed in 2015.

Roger Barnett’s Shaklee Corp. is a nutrition and green cleaning products company. Barnett also founded Beauty.com, one of the first internet cosmetics retailers. He is a son of Victor Barnett, former chairman of Burberry, and a member of the Wolfson family. Sloan Barnett, the daughter of late billionaire businessman George Lindemann, is a lawyer and journalist who has authored books on nutrition.

The Barnetts also own the waterfront mansion at 46 Star Island Drive, which they acquired in 2021 for $38 million.

Coconut Grove has seen a big uptick in ultra luxury sales in recent months. The bayfront neighborhood is home to billionaires who include hedge funder Ken Griffin. Griffin paid nearly $107 million for the waterfront 4-acre estate that belonged to Adrienne Arsht at 3031 and 3115 Brickell Avenue, also in Coconut Grove, in 2022.

Last month, Mas, board chairman of the construction and engineering giant MasTec and managing owner of Inter Miami CF, sold the 7.3-acre residential lot next to the Kampong botanical garden in the Grove to a hidden buyer for more than $100 million.

Also in December, Banyan Ridge, a 4.5-acre waterfront compound at 3585 Anchorage Way in Coconut Grove, traded for $101.5 million, according to the MLS. The property was most recently asking $115 million. The seller of Banyan Ridge is the estate of the late Jonathan Lewis, who was a prominent Miami restaurateur and LGBT advocate.
