Market America president pays $14M for Bath Club condo

The president of Market America Worldwide and Shop.com is trading up from an Edgewater unit to a much pricier condo in Miami Beach.

Marc Ashley and his wife, Maria, paid $14.3 million for unit 3002 at the Bath Club Residences at 5959 Collins Avenue. Property records show Scott and Laura Gilbert sold the 6,300-square-foot condo. The Gilberts paid $5.7 million, or about $2,200 per square foot, for the unit in 2011.

It was most recently asking nearly $16 million. Jordan Karp represented the Ashleys in the purchase and is listing their Edgewater condo. Last month, the Ashleys listed their full-floor condo at Elysee Miami, a bayfront building at 788 Northeast 23rd Street in Miami, for $5.5 million, the New York Post reported.

The Bath Club unit has four bedrooms and was listed with Bespoke Real Estate. The Peebles Corporation redeveloped the Bath Club Residences, with 107 condo units and six oceanfront villas, between 2005 and 2006. The 1926-built beach club was restored.

The Ashleys’ Edgewater condo has four bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms, spanning 3,300 square feet. The asking price works out to $1,700 per square foot. They purchased the unit in 2021 for $2.7 million, when the project was still under construction by Two Roads Development.

The building features interiors by French designer Jean-Louis Deniot, whose portfolio includes the Waldorf Astoria Residences in New York. The unit has a private elevator, 10-foot ceilings and two terraces overlooking Biscayne Bay and Miami Beach.

Market America was founded in 1992 and grew into a global e-commerce and product brokerage platform. Its late founder and CEO James Ridinger and his wife, Loren, bought a penthouse One Thousand Museum condo tower in Miami in 2021. He died the following year at age 63.
