Broward Sheriff’s Office dive team conducting investigation in Deerfield Beach lake

A dive team with the Broward Sheriff’s Office is continuing to search a lake as part of an investigation that began early Tuesday morning in Deerfield Beach.

Few details have been released by investigators, but the Broward Sheriff’s Office said that the investigation was taking place in the area of Lakeside Drive and Lakeside Way in Deerfield Beach.

One resident told CBS News Miami that she was awoken around 4 a.m. by the sound of helicopters circling overhead.

“A helicopter kept going around my house right behind my lake nonstop,” she said. “So, I knew they were searching for someone. So I look out and all along my backyard. So by then all of a sudden, I saw red lights coming from outside my front window.”

She said she then walked outside and saw at least 10 police officers as well as fire trucks in the area.

“I’m like what the heck is happening?” she said.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said there is no threat to the community, and more information would be released later on Tuesday morning.

CBS News Miami crews saw someone who was barefoot being apprehended by police. That person was also wet when he was handcuffed and put into the back of a patrol car.

No other information was released.
