What if Andrea Swift told you that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce meeting wasn’t accidental?
Indeed, “The Life of a Showgirl” singer’s mom — who shares Taylor, as well as Austin Swift, 33, with Scott Swift— revealed she is the one who pulled some strings to coordinate her daughter’s meet cute with the Kansas City Chiefs player.
“I was looking at the headlines,” Andrea explained to Taylor during the fifth episode of “The Eras Tour: End of an Era” documentary released Dec. 19. “Perusing around what’s on the internet, I see that this guy came to your show and he brought a friendship bracelet and wants to meet you.”
The 67-year-old — who has a notoriously close bond with her daughter — admitted she vetted Kelce thoroughly before bringing the news to Taylor.
“I called up my resident expert on the Kansas City Chiefs, my cousin Robin and I go, ‘Tell me about this guy Travis Kelce,’” Andrea continued. “She goes, ‘Oh my gosh! He’s the nicest guy, and you know what? He really loves his mom.’ I went, ‘Ding, ding, ding.’”

Of course, Andrea joked that it was then an uphill battle to get Taylor’s own stamp of approval, recalling, “I went, ‘Now how am I gonna get her to meet him?’”
Indeed, Taylor admitted, “I had been very non-athlete because I’m not one and I’ve always been like, ‘Well what would we talk about?’”
For her part, the 14-time Grammy winner joked it was Kelce’s contradictions to her usual type that sold her mom.
“You were like, ‘Hey, I know you are not going to react well to this, but there’s a guy,’” Taylor recalled. “You said something to the effect of, ‘You’ve got to start doing something different.’”
Indeed, Andrea emphasized that Kelce had won her over even before the now-engaged couple met.
“He’s really cute,” she added. “It was so earnest. I thought it was the sweetest thing in the world that he came to your show. He brought you something from your world. To me, that really said a lot. I thought that was really sweet and I liked it.”
Meanwhile, Taylor had nothing to fear about her lack of shared interests with Kelce, as she not only came around to football, but soon became an expert.
“On our first date, he literally had to explain football,” she detailed. “As if it were like, violent chess — which helped me kind of understand it. Like, high speed, angry chess. Then I just sort of became obsessed with him and therefore became obsessed with learning about football.”
As she put it, “Greatest surprise of my life.”
