“The Summer I Turned Pretty” creator Jenny Han shared an update on how much progress she’s made on writing the forthcoming movie, revealing that she recently finished the script after it first got announced back in September.

“I just wrote it,” Han said during The Wrap’s 2025 Power Women Summit, noting, “We have not filmed anything yet.”

And while the 45-year-old — who also wrote the book trilogy of the same name — may have made a lot of forward progress on the story, she said it still won’t be arriving when a lot of viewers initially theorized.

“I know that everyone was hoping that it was coming out this Christmas,” Han explained, “but unfortunately, not happening, not possible.”

After all, the “To All The Boys I Loved Before” creator reminded fans that post-production for season three of The Summer I Turned Pretty came to an end one month before it premiered on Amazon Prime.

“The show came out in July,” Han, who is also set to direct the movie, explained. “So it was really up to the last minute on the show, so that we wouldn’t have had time to film the whole movie.”

As for where the movie will take Belly (played by Lola Tung), Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno)? Han previously teased that there’s a major life event on the horizon.

“There is another big milestone for Belly,” she hinted during a Sept. 18 appearance on Today. “So we’ll continue along with that journey.”

But that’s about where her spoilers end. In fact, Tung and Briney admitted that they don’t even know any details about the project.

“I’m sure Jenny has a great — she apparently has a first draft,” Tung told Deadline in a joint September interview. “So hopefully, maybe soon we’ll find out.”

And Briney echoed that sentiment, adding, “Thank god I’m not in the writer’s room, because I would write in some dumb s–t.”

“The Summer I Turned Pretty” is back for its final season and has fans divided over Team Jeremiah or Team Conrad. Access Hollywood chatted with Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Rain Spencer, Sean Kaufman and Jenny Han at the Season 3 premiere in New York, and they dished on the epic love triangle.
