One Sotheby’s International Realty relaunched its sports and entertainment division.
The Coconut Grove-based brokerage, led by Daniel and Mayi de la Vega, tapped Chris Anthony as managing director of the division, which is geared toward providing concierge services to athletes, celebrities and other high-profile clients, Anthony said. He is senior vice president of the firm’s northern division.
De la Vega, president of One Sotheby’s, said Anthony brought him the idea to relaunch the division in a sustainable way.
“These sports and entertainment divisions come to market, and they just kind of fizzle out,” de la Vega said. One Sotheby’s first launched one in 2014, led by Ben Moss, who now works for Compass.
Everyone in the division had to apply and meet certain requirements, such a minimum sales volume and experience working with athletes or entertainers. The agents include: Kimberly Knausz, Benjamin Westby, Brian Moorman, Michael Martinez, Anna Sherrill, Jeff Miller, Madison Collum, Eddy Martinez and Roland Ortiz.
Anthony, whose nephew is Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony, said the group will focus on providing discretion to their clients and offer white glove services as a one-stop shop.
“They are used to being catered to. They have their primary focus: do their jobs,” Anthony said.
One Sotheby’s agents’ recent deals involving celebrities and athletes include: Martinez and Roland’s involvement in the $50 million sale of a waterfront mansion in Coral Gables to The Weeknd; Knausz’ representation of Rick Ross in his $35 million purchase of a waterfront Star Island home in Miami Beach; and the $10.6 million sale of Boston Red Sox legend David “Big Papi” Ortiz’s Pinecrest home, which involved Martinez and One Sotheby’s agent Dennis Carvajal.
“It’s not so much that we’re seeing an increase in demand from a transactional point of view,” de la Vega said. “We’re seeing demand for more expensive real estate.”
One Sotheby’s, which has a partnership with the Miami Heat, is in talks with another major sports franchise in Florida.
The other agents in the division are: Mark Nestler, John Poletto, Veroushka Volkert, Karen Elmir, Julian Calderin, Michael Raben, John Richardson, Mary Dellenbach, Sandra Tagliamonte, Brigitte Lina, Alina Schwartz, Stephanie Moss Dandridge, Banna Fakhoury, Jackie Feldman, Laura Roxana Garcia, Carla Christenson, Jessica Fernandez, Isaac Malagon and Lara Goodwin.
Volkert recently listed the waterfront home of newly retired soccer pro Sergio Busquets of Inter Miami. Busquets is looking to sell his waterfront property near Fort Lauderdale for $9.8 million.
