Nosh on this: a member of the family behind Zaro’s Bakery in New York paid more than $35 million for a penthouse at Palazzo Del Sol.
Property records show Andrew Zaro acquired the seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom and two-half-bath unit at 7093 Fisher Island Drive, marking the priciest condo sale on Fisher Island this year. The 9,800-square-foot unit traded for nearly $3,600 per square foot.
Pierre Brondeau, executive chairman of FMC Corp., a Philadelphia-based agricultural sciences company, and his wife Melissa Brondeau sold the lower penthouse at Palazzo Del Sol, according to the deed. The couple purchased the pad in 2021 for $20 million.
Dora Puig of Luxe Living Realty represented the sellers in their latest deal, which was reported as $36 million in the Multiple Listing Service. The unit comes with a cabana, according to the listing. It sold with furniture included.
Jorge Escasena of Luxury Living Realty — unrelated to Puig’s firm — represented the buyer.
Zaro previously ran the family business, according to a Forbes profile published in 2003. It’s now run by the fourth generation, Michael, Brian and Scott Zaro, according to the company’s website. Andrew, who is now in the finance industry, owns another unit on Fisher Island at Oceanside.
Other pricey Fisher Island deals that closed this year include Moto Capital Group boss Guilherme Federico’s sale in April of a lower penthouse for $20.5 million to Joseph P. Faro, founder of Tuscan Brands, who also owns another condo on Fisher Island.
Last summer, another unit at Palazzo Del Sol sold for $18.4 million, or about $1,900 per square foot. Venezuelan media mogul Raúl Gorrín, who U.S. authorities charged with money laundering, sold the condo to a company led by Brandon Shiller, founding partner of Montreal-based real estate investor and developer Hillpark Capital.
