The Holiday season has officially begun for listeners on Spotify

Midnight struck on Nov. 1 and, for many, that meant it was time to deck the halls.

According to Spotify, holiday music streams have spiked by 250% since Nov. 1, signaling that the holiday season has officially begun — at least for some listeners.

Leading the festivities with an individual 500% increase in streams is Mariah Carey’s hit “All I want for Christmas is You,” along with Michael Bublé’s “It’s Beginning to Look A lot Like Christmas” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “A Nonsense Christmas.”

Across the country, stores are already putting up holiday decorations and launching holiday sales, and radio stations across the country have launched their 24/7 holiday coverage.

As Carey famously says, “it’s time,” but not everyone agrees. With Thanksgiving still weeks away, some argue it’s too soon for it to be “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”

So, the annual debate begins once again: When should the holiday season begin?
