An oceanfront estate in Palm Beach just hit the market for $205 million, making it the island’s most expensive trophy listing so far this season.
Christian Angle with Christian Angle Real Estate has the listing for the 14,500-square-foot mansion at 1491 North Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach, according to a press release. It was the onetime home of late fashion magnate Aldo Gucci, son of the fashion house founder Guccio Gucci. The 4.8-acre oceanfront compound is one of the most expensive homes on the market in Florida, and the latest in a string of high-profile trophy listings in the tri-county region as the busy season sets in.
Last week, an oceanfront teardown at 911 North Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach hit the market asking $185 million. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Aaron Rollins and his wife Marine Rollins listed their unfinished Indian Creek Island estate in Miami-Dade County for $200 million this week.
The estate at 1491 North Ocean Boulevard is the longtime winter home of the late Frank and Maureen Wilkens. Frank Wilkens was the co-founder of Greenwich, Connecticut-based investment firm Wilkens and Nanovic, which managed corporate pensions. He died in 2011, and Maureen Wilkens died in April, according to their obituaries.
They bought the property for $14 million in 2002, according to property records. They completed the estate in 2005. It includes the 14,500-square-foot, six-bedroom main house with six and a half bathrooms, a two-bedroom guest house with two and a half bathrooms, a pool house, two pools and 230 feet of oceanfrontage, according to records and the release.
If the compound sells for anywhere near the asking price, it would set a price record for the island. In 2023, luxury car dealer Michael Cantanucci paid $170 million for an oceanfront estate at 589 North County Road, making it Palm Beach’s most expensive single-family home. Earlier this year, cosmetics heir William Lauder sold two oceanfront parcels in an off-market deal for more than $160 million, as part of a $350 million assemblage sources say is linked to Microsoft Excel creator Charles Simonyi.
Still, selling for $205 million would fall short of a statewide record. The billionaire DeGroote family set the Florida price record in April when they sold their waterfront Naples estate for $225 million. But there’s competition for the title. Also in Naples, an estate known as Gordon Pointe listed last year asking $295 million. Spec developer Stewart Satter has a 4-acre oceanfront Manalapan compound on the market asking $285 million.
