Movers & Shakers: Better Homes & Gardens buys 80-agent firm in Broward



In the latest roundup of South Florida real estate hiring news, brokerages are adding agent headcount in key markets. 

Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate bought Castelli Real Estate Services, an 80-agent firm in Broward County, bringing its total headcount in the area to 250 agents, according to Castelli’s website. Better Homes & Gardens, led by CEO Gene Whiddon III, plans to expand its Broward offices to include more than 500 agents, making it the latest brokerage to expand in the county. Better Homes & Gardens is one of the brokerages to be acquired by Compass in its $1.6 billion deal for Anywhere Real Estate.

One Sotheby’s International Realty promoted Jennifer Leong as manager of development sales in Broward, according to a press release. Leong joined the brokerage in 2021 and heads the Opulent Group. In her new role, her focus will be to expand One Sotheby’s new development business in Broward. 

Brown Harris Stevens added agents in its South Miami and Miami Beach offices, according to a press release. In South Miami, Adriana Cifuentes, Christina Cagol, Jazmine Yancey, Juanita Gallego, Kia Kesser, and Yina Uriza joined the brokerage. Christine Patruna and Ruslan Moncada joined in Miami Beach. 

Architecture firm RSP brought in Nicolas Pinzon into its Miami office, according to a press release. He joins as an associate principal with a focus on mixed-use projects and large-scale developments. He previously worked at L35 Architects for 27 years, most recently as senior partner. 

Palm Beach hotel Palm House brought in Grant Friedman as its new general manager, the Palm Beach Daily News reported. Friedman was previously a consultant with his firm GIF Hospitality. and worked as vice president and general manager for Acqualina Resort and Residences from 2020 to 2023, according to LinkedIn. 

L+R Hotels, owned by Ian and Richard Livingstone, bought the hotel for $39.6 million in 2019, according to the Palm Beach Daily News.
