The Miss Universe competition is off to a slippery start.

During the Nov. 19 ceremony, Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry took a major fall during the preliminary evening gown category.

In the shocking video shared on Instagram, Henry, 28, can be spotted strutting down the Miss Universe runway in a bedazzled orange gown paired with a matching cape. After striking a pose for the judges, the contestant continued walking to her left, where she fell completely off stage.

Additional footage of the moment online shows people nearby coming to her rescue and carrying her off on a stretcher to receive medical attention.

Just hours later, the Miss Universe Organization released an update on Henry’s injuries.

“She was rushed to the Paolo Rangsit Hospital, where medical professionals are attending to her care and have advised that she is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries,” the statement read. “However, they continue to conduct tests to ensure her full recovery.”

While Henry focuses on healing, the organization asked their global community to “stay upbeat, lift her in prayer, and send positive thoughts as she receives the necessary medical care.”

Miss Universe Organization President Raúl Rocha also shared an update on his Instagram, noting that he visited Henry in the hospital.

“I would like to share with the Miss Universe family that are concerned for the health of our Miss Universe Jamaica that at 12:00 a.m. Bangkok time, that I have just left the hospital where she is being treated,” the post read. “I was there with her family and her, and thankfully, there are no broken bones and she is under good care. She will remain under observation for the rest of the night and we will remain in touch with her family to support her.”

“Our prayers go out for her prompt recovery,” he added.

The incident comes just days before the Miss Universe finals in Thailand on Nov. 25.
