UNC cancels Hulu series after 2-3 start to Bill Belichick's first season: Report

There will be no documentary following Bill Belichick’s first season coaching college football.

According to a report from Inside Carolina, plans for a Hulu series chronicling the Super Bowl-winning coach’s debut year at North Carolina have been scrapped.

The Tar Heels are 2-3 to open the 2025 season, with blowout losses against TCU, UCF and Clemson — and getting outscored 120-33 in those three games.

This is already the second documentary series that has been canceled in Chapel Hill since Belichick’s arrival. UNC was originally set to be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” before the plan switched to a Hulu series that was to be more editorially controlled by the program.

Controversy has followed Belichick and the program since he and girlfriend Jordon Hudson arrived over the offseason. He openly stated that Patriots scouts were not allowed at the UNC facility, following his public feud with former boss and Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

On Monday, reports suggested that Belichick had banned UNC from promoting Patriots QB Drake Maye on social media — only for the school to post a clip later that day.

While Hudson does not technically have a role within the program, she has certainly had an influence behind the scenes. She’s been seen on the field before games this season, speaking with Belichick before watching from suites.

UNC will return to the field Oct. 17 for an ACC road game against California.
