Grammy award-winning artist Timbaland sold his Coral Gables mansion for $14 million.
Timbaland, whose legal name is Timothy Mosley, sold his 8,452-square-foot, seven-bedroom and eight-and-a-half-bathroom house at 5400 Hammock Drive, records show.
The record producer, rapper, singer-songwriter and label executive paid about $9 million for the 1-acre property in 2019, the same year the tropical modern mansion was completed, according to records. The property includes a guest house, wine cellar, sauna and full-house generator.
Alex Pirez’s Mocca Realty brokered the latest sale, which marks a roughly 25 percent increase in value since its previous sale six years ago.
Property records show Zeroisha and Beatrice Zapata bought the home, which was asking $15.9 million. Zeroisha Zapata is CEO at Sunrise-based COR Medical Centers and 1-800 NO-FAULT, a Doral-based medical and attorney referral service.
Timbaland was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, but he’s lived in Miami for more than two decades. He sold a Pinecrest mansion in 2019, and he owns a double unit at Aria on the Bay in Miami’s Arts & Entertainment District. Pharrell Williams, who lives nearby in Gables Estates, is Timbaland’s cousin.
Timbaland has helped launch the successful careers of artists who include Missy Elliott, the late Aaliyah and Justin Timberlake, according to published reports.
Other celebrities have bought and sold in South Florida in recent months.
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter the Weeknd is in contract to buy the waterfront Gables Estates mansion at 41 Arvida Parkway, which is on the market for $54.9 million. Steven Lempera, the former president of Future Environmental, is selling the property.
This summer, attorney Anthony Lopez and his fiancée, former “Real Housewives of Miami” star, Dr. Nicole Martin, paid $34 million for the waterfront mansion at 33 Arvida Parkway, also in Gables Estates. The sale price marked a 28 percent discount off the $47 million asking price.
Farther north in Broward County, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tuanigamanuolepola “Tua” Tagovailoa sold his Davie home for $2.6 million in July.
