Sergio Pino’s widow, brother settle battle over late developer’s estate

A Miami-Dade judge approved a settlement agreement between Tatiana Pino’s family and her brother-in-law Carlos Pino over the multimillion-dollar estate of the late Sergio Pino.

Sergio Pino, the founder and former CEO of Century Homebuilders Group, died by suicide last year as the FBI was closing in to arrest him for allegedly orchestrating multiple attempts to kill his estranged wife, Tatiana Pino.

The settlement, approved on Wednesday by Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Yvonne Colodny, removes Carlos Pino’s original claim that he should be the personal representative for Sergio Pino’s estate, the Miami Herald reported. Carlos also gave up his stake in Sergio Pino’s Key Largo vacation home, and Century Homebuilders, which Tatiana Pino leads and owns fully, will forgive a nearly $700,000 debt owed by Carlos Pino.

The resolution confirms that Tatiana Pino is entitled to full ownership of Century Homebuilders, according to the Herald.  When he founded the company in 2013, he and his wife were each entitled to 50 percent of the company. It became one of the largest Hispanic-owned homebuilders nationwide and has more than two dozen residential projects in Florida.

Legal challenges to Sergio Pino’s probate estate remain.

In September, Tatiana Pino and her daughters filed a new lawsuit against Sergio Pino’s longtime girlfriend, Nancy Pastor, and others that Tatiana Pino and her daughters claim were involved in allegedly fraudulent transfers in the days before and after his suicide.

That lawsuit centers on trust and lease documents, including a 99-year lease, which the plaintiffs claim were created or amended to minimize Tatiana Pino’s ownership and benefit Pastor, without the consent of the bank, project partners or Tatiana Pino.

Sergio and Tatiana Pino were in the midst of a highly contentious divorce when he died. Sergio Pino began dating in the early 2000s, according to court filings.

Seven of the nine men who have been charged in the murder-for-hire case have pleaded guilty in federal court.
