Someone thinks Katy Perry’s pretty without any makeup on…
Following her split from Orlando Bloom, the California gurl’s roller coaster year has seemingly hit another high point — maybe not 66-miles-into-space-high, but definitely cloud nine-level — as she spent part of a recent break from her Lifetimes Tour on a yacht with Justin Trudeau.
Their PDA-packed outing off the coast of Perry’s hometown of Santa Barbara occurred less than three months after the singer and the former prime minister of Canada had dinner in Montreal and he attended her show at the Bell Centre two nights later.
So, at the very least, he’s a fan.
While neither has spoken outright about the other, Perry insinuated during her Oct. 13 concert in London that she may be occupied romantically, responding to an audience member’s proposal at O2 Arena with, “I wish you’d asked me 48 hours ago.” (So, no swish swish.)
Complimenting the audience on their energy, she added, “No wonder I fall for Englishmen all the time…But not anymore.”

That’s a lot to unpack in one quip, as Perry was briefly married to Essex native Russell Brand from 2010 until 2012 before spending the better part of nine years coupled with Bloom, who hails from Kent.
Perry and the “Lord of the Rings” actor confirmed in July that they had amicably ended their engagement after, their reps said in a statement, “shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting” their now-5-year-old daughter Daisy Dove.
The statement continued, “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
In addition to the warning that any sightings of the stars together isn’t a reason to sound the reconciliation alarm, they have indeed put up a united front. Perry showed her support for her ex’s film The Cut on social media in September and the actor — who also shares 14-year-old son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr — noted on TODAY that he and Perry have a “beautiful daughter” and they’re all “gonna be great.”

And when The Onion took notice of Perry’s dinner with Trudeau by mocking up a report on Bloom having an intimate supper with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, he showed his respect for the bit with clapping emojis.
Meanwhile, the only place that people may have been more surprised to see Perry — other than on a Blue Origin space flight in April — was having dinner with Canada’s ex-PM in July, though she and the veteran politician had plenty to talk about.
Including that they’re both in the middle of major life changes, Perry single for the first time in almost a decade and Trudeau out of office for the first time since he was elected to parliament in 2008. His new post-premiership chapter aside, they also have respectively packed schedules and are familiar with the concept of having a job that requires a lot of unwinding at the end of the day.
“It’s great to have a family to come home to and a whole identity outside of being ‘Katy Perry’ and music,” Perry told E! News in January. “I’m really proud of what I created and the time that I have had off because it’s super grounding for me.”
Away from the spotlight, she shared, “My love language — or one of them — is acts of service, because I’m actually super caretaking and I like to look after people and I like to make sure everyone’s having a great time. I find joy in other people’s joy.”
And when she’s with Daisy, her daughter is getting her full attention.
“I’ve learned a lot about presence,” Perry told ET Canada in 2022, “and that was something that I really wanted to give as a mother is just, ‘Yeah, there’s a zillion WhatsApp chats on fire, but I’m going to put this down and I’m going to color with you right now for 30 minutes because I love you.'”

Trudeau certainly understands how hard it can be to find time for what really matters.
The dad to Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11 (with ex Sophie Grégoire) said in his March farewell address to parliament that he “cannot wait to re-devote myself 100 percent to my most important role: Being a dad.”
While it’s unclear if he and Grégoire are officially divorced, they did wait until they had signed a legal separation agreement before announcing in August 2023 that, following “many meaningful and difficult conversations,” they had split up after 18 years of marriage.
And as she’s been bouncing around the globe, it’s been a summer of motherhood, music and moving on for Perry.
“My best friend once gave me a framed 19th century book called What Katy Did Next,” Perry wrote on Instagram in September. “I’ve never read it, but the title has always stuck with me. That’s the point – it’s about continuing to move forward, and dream.”
So, she continued, “Whatever comes next, I’m letting it unfold naturally. No forcing, no controlling – just trusting the angels, the fans, and the music to guide me where I’m meant to go.”
For now, her internal compass seems to be pointing due north.
