When it comes to young love, legendary rockstar Jon Bon Jovi is a big fan.
“They got married very young, but we blessed it because we get it,” Bon Jovi said about his son Jake Bongiovi and his wife, “Stranger Things” actress Millie Bobby Brown, on Bunny XO‘s “Dumb Blonde” podcast. “You know, they’re sort of mature beyond their years.”
Brown is 21 and Bongiovi is 23, but Bon Jovi understands meeting your soul mate at a young age. After all, he and his longtime wife Dorothea Hurley met in high school.
To Bunny XO, Bon Jovi said of Brown, “She comes from a family where her parents are still together, and they married very young. Her and Jake fell in love, and we just thought, ‘OK, you know, we’ll support this.’ And it’s working out.”
The couple announced on Instagram that they had adopted a baby girl on Aug. 21, making Bon Jovi a first-time grandfather. He said, “I want to see pictures like every other day. I’m that pain-in-the-butt guy already, so it’s cool.”

Rumors swirled in May 2024 that Brown and Bongiovi were married. During a May 28, 2024 interview, Bon Jovi confirmed the rumors were true. The pair was married in a small ceremony in spring 2024 and then had a splashier affair in September 2024.
Brown posted a sweet 1st anniversary message on Instagram on Sept. 21: “1 year married. 🩶 I love being your wife.”
Bon Jovi and his wife have four kids: Stephanie, Jesse, Jake and Romeo.
“One thing you come to know in parenting as you get to a certain stage and age is they’re all uniquely different,” Bon Jovi said on the podcast. “Dorothea and I have four kids. It’s a big surprise to me that from the same parents in the same house in the same years, they’re very different.”
He continued, “It’s had to teach us a little more patience, like I’m not the boss anymore. I definitely do not get to dictate the terms.”
Though Bon Jovi mourned the loss of control he had when his kids were younger and he drove them in the backseat of the car, he takes “great pride” in how they turned out.
“I like who they’re becoming, so I’m pretty proud — well, I’m very proud — of all four because they’re uniquely individual, and they know where they came from, but they also want to be their own person, which is big,” he said. “None of them wants to live as ‘the son of’ or ‘the daughter of.’”
