On the final night of Lollapalooza in Chicago, one of the festival’s biggest headliners brought out music legends to help the crowd just “let loose and groove.”
“If I could bring out some friends for you guys,” Sabrina Carpenter said, as Earth Wind & Fire’s “Let’s Groove Tonight” began to play in the background. “So I thought, why not bring out my friends from Chicago? Give it up for Earth Wind & Fire!”
The funk band, originally formed in Chicago in 1969, joined Carpenter on stage Sunday for two songs, including the group’s popular dance song “September.”
“The whole place went insane when they walked out,” Matt Rodrigues, who was at the show with his niece, said, with viral videos posted to social media capturing the moment.
Earlier in the weekend, headliner Olivia Rodrigo brought out Weezer during her set, playing “Say it Ain’t So” and “Buddy Holly.”
The four-day festival began Thursday in Chicago’s Grant Park and concluded Sunday night.
Please, please, please don’t assume you know who Sabrina Carpenter’s new song is about. After fans speculated “Manchild” was inspired by a specific ex, the Grammy winner clarified what her new summer anthem was actually about in a candid post on Instagram on June 5.
