Fresh off an Oscar-nominated performance as Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown,” Chalamet is stepping into the shoes of a different kind of legend.
Chalamet and A24 shared the trailer for his upcoming movie, “Marty Supreme,” on Wednesday, giving fans a glimpse of Chalamet as table tennis player Marty Mauser. The trailer shows him trying to make his table tennis dreams a reality, even while most people don’t respect them.
While “Marty Supreme” is a fictionalized account, Chalamet’s character is based on the real-life Marty Reiser.

Who is Marty Reisman?
Marty Reisman was a champion table tennis player, entertainer and author.
Born in New York City in 1930, Reisman went on to win five world championship medals in table tennis. He went on to perform a comedy table tennis routine with doubles partner Douglas Cartland as an opening act for the Harlem Globetrotters and authored an autobiography, “The Money Player, The Confessions of America’s Greatest Table Tennis Player and Hustler,” in 1974.
Reisman died on Dec. 7, 2012, at the age of 82.
