Josh Allen opens up about marriage to Hailee Steinfeld in sideline interview

Josh Allen took some time to gush about wife Hailee Steinfeld during the Buffalo Bills’ latest preseason game.

On Aug. 17, Allen’s Bills faced off against the Chicago Bears in the New York team’s second preseason game of the season, which was broadcast on Fox. Although the star quarterback and reigning MVP didn’t play in the matchup, he still stood on the sidelines to support his teammates. During the first quarter, sportscaster Pam Oliver chatted with Allen about the upcoming NFL season and also asked him about recently tying the knot with Steinfeld this summer.

In a clip from the interview shared on X, Oliver says, “On a personal note, you married your best friend, Hailee, during the offseason.” She then asks how the 29-year-old’s personal life has made him a better athlete.

Allen replies, “I mean, to have the support that I do at home, and to have someone that I share similar life interests with and wants in life, it’s an awesome feeling.”

He continued to praise his bride, adding, “I get to support somebody as much as she supports me. So, very happy, obviously.”

Allen and Steinfeld, who were first romantically linked in 2023 and got engaged in November 2024, said “I do” in a Southern California wedding ceremony on May 31, the Associated Press reported at the time.

They had previously announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post last year. The couple uploaded a sweet photo that showed Allen kneeling on one knee as the actor kissed him. The two were surrounded by pink flowers and candles.

The “Sinners” star, 28, shared details about their outdoor wedding in Santa Barbara, California, in a June edition of her Beau Society newsletter.

“We had a no-phone wedding — we wanted everyone to come and be present,” she explained. “Looking back, it was one of the best decisions we made. But that meant (photographer) Jose (Villa) had his work cut out for him, capturing all the magic for us.”

Steinfeld later wrote, “I metaphorically threw my phone in the ocean before our wedding weekend, and it was the best thing ever. 11/10 recommend being unplugged and present.”

The Oscar-nominated actor also revealed that she and her husband opted to stray from tradition and saw each other before walking down the aisle.

“On the morning of our wedding, Josh and I met for breakfast just before 7. I’m so glad we did that. I don’t think I could’ve gone the whole day without seeing him!” Steinfeld said.

She included nearly two dozen images from the ceremony in her newsletter, as well.
