Twenty-seven years after television audiences were first introduced to Carrie Bradshaw and her fabulous friends, the story of these iconic New York City women finally comes to an end.
The “Sex and the City” reboot, “And Just Like That,” will end with season 3 following a two-part season finale, creator and showrunner Michael Patrick King announced on Friday. The final episodes will debut on the first two Thursdays in August.
“While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop,” King wrote on social media.
“[Sarah Jessica Parker] and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season.”
“And Just Like That” debuted on HBO Max in December 2021, almost two decades after the original series bowed in 2004.
Parker returned to the much-anticipated reboot along with costars Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte). Fan favorite Kim Cattrall (Samantha) appeared for a brief cameo, but largely kept away from “And Just Like That.”
The original show popularized a glamorous version of New York City, earned a number of Emmy awards, and lead to countless conversations among friends over who is the Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte.
In the finale season of “And Just Like That,” Charlotte has dealt with the emotional toll of her husband’s cancer diagnosis, Miranda explores a new relationship with a woman, and Carrie ends the relationship with one of her great loves, Aidan.
The series finale of “And Just Like That” airs on HBO on August 14.
