Taylor Swift has an excellent father, whose strength makes her stronger.
And when it was her turn to lend Scott Swift support as he underwent open heart surgery, she was right by his side through it all.
Swift’s rep confirmed to TMZ July 16 that the 73-year-old underwent quintuple bypass surgery over one month earlier, and that his wife Andrea Swift as well as both Taylor and their son Austin Swift were with him throughout the surgery and recovery process. The rep likewise confirmed that the surgery was not a result of a heart attack, but that rather Swift’s doctor saw something during a check-up that led to the procedure.
His recovery is going well and he’s feeling great, her rep also confirmed to the outlet.
Coronary bypass surgery involves creating new paths for blood to flow around a blocked or partially blocked artery in the heart, per the Mayo Clinic. In this case, Scott’s surgery included creating five new pathways.
E! News has reached out to Swift’s rep for comment but has not yet heard back.

It is no secret that Swift and her dad are close. Not only was the patriarch a frequent attendee of her Eras Tour, but he even joined her at many Kansas City Chiefs games to cheer on her boyfriend Travis Kelce since they began dating in 2023.
And while Scott Swift doesn’t often speak publicly about his daughter and their private life, he did share some insight into his feelings about her relationship with his seatmate during a flight in October.
“He did talk about how much he loves Travis for her, which was super cute,” the lucky traveler shared in an Oct. 29 TikTok about her experience. “I did not ask anything about Travis. He was just raving about his daughter and raving about her success and how proud he was of every aspect of her life.”
The woman — also named Taylor — shared how the pair initially broke the ice about Scott’s famous family.
“He knew I knew, and so, yes, I did say, ‘Are you Taylor’s dad?'” she admitted, “and he reached in his pocket and handed me guitar picks, and he was like, ‘Yes, I am.'”
The pair, the user said, spent much of the flight talking about Swift’s busy schedule, his daughter’s shows and watching Travis’ games. Most of all, he reportedly talked about how proud he is of his Grammy winning daughter.
“He’s a talker and the sweetest man on planet earth,” the TikToker said. “I did not have to even ask him questions, and he was spilling every bit of how proud he was of Taylor.”
