TODAY’s very own Savannah Guthrie got to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Citi Field as the Mets battled the Yankees on July 6.
Though Savannah has been in plenty of high-pressure situations in her media career, she shared on Instagram that this one heightened her emotions.
“I’m nerv-cited!” she said.
Perhaps the morning anchor was especially nervous and excited because her family joined her on the infield. Savannah’s husband, Michael Feldman, and their two kids, 10-year-old daughter Vale and 8-year-old son Charley, were right by their mom’s side.
The kids looked absolutely thrilled to be on the field. It seemed like a dream come true for this sports-loving family.
“You’ve got it, Mom!” Vale said in a video posted on Instagram.
“Who are you talking to?” asked a curious Charley.
“To everybody out there in the Mets fan world,” said Savannah.
“Oh yay!” he responded. “Hi!”
Before the main event, Savannah got some pitching advice from Mets player Ryne Stanek.
Then Savannah and the family rubbed elbows with team mascots Mr. and Mrs. Met. The pair have represented the team since the 1960s. “Icons meeting icons,” read the caption on the Instagram reel.
“Nice to meet you! You’re beautiful!” Savannah said to Mrs. Met, who high-fived Charley and admired Vale’s jewelry.
Savannah may have been “nerv-cited,” but she looked perfectly at ease near the pitcher’s mound.
Wearing platform sandals and a No. 17 Mets jersey, Savannah, a leftie, perfectly tossed the baseball to home plate.

Savannah and her family looked positively delighted as they smiled to cameras and the crowd from the field. Turning to the scoreboard to show off the backs of their jerseys (Savannah had “Guthrie” written on the back while her husband and kids all had “Feldman”), they all raised a fist in triumph before the start of the game.
It was truly a memorable moment for Savannah and the whole family.
