It’s nearly time to get back in the pods.
Netflix recently announced its next string of reality show premieres, and the ninth installment of “Love Is Blind” is on the horizon.
Indeed, the series — which follows couples literally blindly dating for a little over a week before deciding to propose and spend more time getting to know each other — will premiere Oct. 1, and be set for the first time ever in Denver, Colorado.
And while “Love Is Blind”’s premise always leaves plenty of room for drama, Vanessa Lachey, who co-hosts the show with husband Nick Lachey, recently teased that the upcoming season may be the most shocking yet.
“Something happens in Denver,” Vanessa teased to E! News in May, “that has never happened on any of the ‘Love is Blinds.’”
The 44-year-old obviously couldn’t share many more details about the drama to come, but she did go on to share that the Denver contestants themselves will also bring something fresh to the series.
Vanessa Lachey has been hosting the hit Netflix reality show “Love is Blind” with her husband Nick Lachey for six seasons, but it’s her other show that just hit a major milestone! The “NCIS” franchise – which includes Vanessa’s “NCIS Hawai’i” – recently celebrated its 1,000th episode.

“The beauty of ‘Love is Blind’ being in different cities each season is that you get the character of that season, that city, and what comes along with it,” she added. “Some cities, faith is more important. Some cities, work is more important. Some cities, drinking is more important — it varies. So you can imagine what Denver’s gonna be — I’m gonna let you guys write that script.”
One thing most “Love Is Blind” cities do have in common? Sadly, a whole lot of heartbreak. Although there are a few lasting couples — such as season one’s Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton, or season eight’s Daniel Hastings and Taylor Haag — “Love is Blind” has seen many romances not make it to, or past, the altar.
Although some couples prove there is more than meets the eye, others have had notable trouble in getting past the misaligned ideas of each other they build up in the pods, as proven with season six couple Chelsea Blackwell and Jimmy Presnell.
While Jimmy and Chelsea — who ultimately did not get married and broke up shortly after their season ended — were still in the pods, Chelsea shared that her celebrity lookalike was Megan Fox, which was met with so much online backlash that even the “Jennifer’s Body” actress herself later told E! News last year that it was unwarranted, saying, “I think people went way too hard.”
Jimmy, for his part, also later expressed regret for how negatively he reacted to Chelsea’s real appearance in the show, in which he claimed she had “lied” about how she looked.
Months after the debacle, though, Chelsea was able to find humor in the situation.
“Now, it’s just gonna be a joke, and I will never live it down,” she told E! News last year. “It’s just funny.”
