Reformation, Alo Yoga, Bluemercury, more | West Palm Beach
Billionaire Steve Ross’ CityPlace mixed-use complex in downtown West Palm Beach scored more than 125,000 square feet of new leases.
Already open are vintage-inspired clothing store Reformation, which leased 2,000 square feet; Alo Yoga, which leased 4,500 square feet; and skin care and wellness products store Bluemercury, which leased 2,200 square feet, according to a news release from CityPlace and Related Ross.
In late summer, Rothy’s, a shoes and accessories brand that uses recycled materials such as thread made from plastic, will open a 1,500-square-foot store, and Crate & Barrel will open a 9,600-square-foot store. Next, luxury home furnishings store Perigold, which so far has largely been an e-commerce retailer, will open one of its first showrooms in a 30,000-square-foot space at CityPlace in September, the release says. In the fall, OluKai will open a 1,300-square-foot shoe and sandals store.
The leases come after Equinox committed to opening a 35,000-square-foot gym at Ross’ 575 Rosemary building, also home to Related Ross’ recently completed 21-story The Laurel apartment tower. Equinox, which is expected to open in the fall, will launch a sales office this summer.
Last year, Ross, 85, stepped back from New York-based Related Companies that he founded over 50 years ago, carved out its Southeast U.S. holdings and put them under his newly formed Related Ross. The firm, which Ross leads, primarily focuses on South Florida, especially downtown West Palm. (He remains non-executive chairman of Related Companies and is its single largest shareholder.)
The move was the latest step in his hefty investment and development in West Palm over the past five years. Ross has eight office towers, including those purchased, completed, under construction and planned, and several apartment and condo projects.
His focus on downtown West Palm marks his comeback to the city. In 2000, Ross, through Related Companies, completed CityPlace. Now, he is redeveloping portions of its obsolete retail with two office towers, 10 CityPlace and 15 CityPlace.
