Is Uno going to be a Casino game in Las Vegas?

The makers of Uno are trying to clear up any confusion: You won’t be playing a reverse for money on the floor of a Las Vegas casino anytime soon.

In the wake of news from Uno maker Mattel about an Uno Social Club at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, the makers of the classic game clarified July 14 on Instagram that there will be no Uno games on the casino floor.

“A rumor has come to our attention that there will be Uno tables on the casino floors in Las Vegas. Sounds wild, huh?” the company wrote. “We hate to be the bearers of bad news but the casino floor isn’t ready for us yet. We’ve been told that while they do have tight security, it’s not robust enough for Uno at this time.”

Uno Social Club opens at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas

The clarification came after the Palms Casino announced it was opening its doors to the first Uno Social Club from July 18-20 to one winner and a guest who were selected through a contest.

“We created Uno Social Clubs to reimagine what game night can be — bringing people together for real-world fun, connection, and a bit of friendly competition,” Ray Adler, vice president and global head of games at Mattel, previously said in a release. “The Uno Social Club in Las Vegas is just the beginning, and we’re excited to see how these new experiences inspire players to show up, play hard, and make unforgettable memories.”

A suite decked out in the card game’s classic red, yellow, blue and green colors will host Uno game tables and “will also be stocked with more Uno games than you can imagine — including new extensions for even more spirited competition — and a personal Uno game host to shuffle decks in style,” according to Mattel.

Some Uno fans took that to mean Uno tables would be on the casino floor and betting would be allowed on the game usually played by families in the living room and the kitchen table.

The Instagram post by the official Uno account made it clear that’s not happening at this time.

“This isn’t a Reverse card,” the statement reads. “While we get this sorted out, the Uno Social Club is rolling out to bars in Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Atlanta and Austin this August.”

Uno fans expressed their excitement at the thought of a night out playing the game, even if there’s no money involved.

“I live here in Vegas and I am willing to play without placing bets. Just a room full of uno players having a good time!” one person commented on Uno’s Instagram post.

“Bad news, nothing on the table yet. But good news, I’m excited for the social club to come here to LA!” another wrote.

“I thought I was boutta win it all with a +4 😔,” another joked.
