Goodnight, sweet prince of darkness.
Iconic heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne died Tuesday at the age of 76.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” his family announced in a statement to the U.K. Press Association. “He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

The former Black Sabbath frontman — who went on to become a solo act and, later in life, a reality television star — made his final performance earlier this month while reuniting with his old bandmates for a charity concert at Birmingham’s Villa Park.
Osbourne, seated in a leather throne, battled through Parkinson’s disease to perform the band’s classics like “Iron Man” and “War Pigs.”
It became his musical farewell.
His loss was mourned Tuesday by fans, musicians, celebrities and others on social media.
I just can’t believe it! My dear dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park.
It’s just such heartbreaking news that I can’t really find the words, there won’t ever be another like him. Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother.

Sad to hear Ozzy died today. When I was in high school I discovered Sabbath. “War Pigs” was terrifying and mesmerizing at the same time. It was Ozzy’s voice that took me away to a dark universe. RIP Ozzy Osbourne.
One of the greatest rock stars in history, and a wonderful character. Truly one of the funniest people I’ve ever known. I once asked him what was the best moment of his life and he replied instantly: ‘Meeting Sharon.’ My heart breaks for her. 💔 pic.twitter.com/qY4Z5GQ3tC— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 22, 2025

There was no one like Ozzy Osborne. As in, no one would ever mistake him for anyone else. In August 2003, he sang “Take Me Out To The Ballgame,” got fewer than 10% of the song right, and it was perfect. pic.twitter.com/kVLSBucO1X
