South Florida by the numbers: Florida Panthers and their properties

“South Florida by the numbers” is a web feature that catalogs the most notable, quirky and surprising real estate statistics.

They did it again! The Florida Panthers are the 2025 Stanley Cup Champions, after winning their first title in thrilling fashion last year. This year was an even more dominant affair, ending with yet another electric celebration on their home ice in Sunrise. And speaking of “homes”, the team, its players, and even former players have made some savvy real estate moves over the past year, while continuing to be an economic force in their home base of Broward County. While we documented similar news items after winning last year’s title, let’s drop the puck on yet another championship edition of “South Florida by the numbers.”

$100 million-plus
Economic effect of the Florida Panthers on Greater Fort Lauderdale, according to the city’s Downtown Development Authority. The team itself has invested more than $65 million into the redevelopment of its Fort Lauderdale-based practice rink, public ice rinks and even a concert venue, all of which opened last year. According to local business leaders, foot traffic and revenue can increase 30 percent on any given game day or weekend. [Fox]

$6 million
After helping the team win last year’s Stanley Cup, winger Vladimir Tarasenko invested in two South Florida properties: a $5 million waterfront spec house in Fort Lauderdale’s Rio Vista neighborhood, and a $1 million condo in the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Places in Miami’s Brickell. (Tarasenko later signed a two-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings.) [Miami Herald]

$3.5 million
Value of Panther Brad Marchand’s Boston home, at the center of confusion and speculation about the former Bruins star’s future in “Beantown” after being traded to Florida in March. Around that same time, Marchand posted an Instagram story hyping his wife Katrina’s hard work on a different Boston property placed on the market for $1.8 million, leading many to believe he was planning to relocate. While Katrina cleared up the confusion, Marchand’s future hockey home remains to be seen, as his current contract ended this season. [Essentially Sports]

$15 million
Market price of a Boca Raton waterfront mansion developed by former Panther Ed Jovanovski, featuring 7,677 square feet and 120 feet of waterfront, less than a mile from the Boca Raton resort. Jovanowski was first drafted by the Panthers in 1994 (the same year the team reached the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time) and serves as an on-air television analyst for the team. [New York Post]

$6.75 Million
Price paid by Panthers superstar Matthew Tkachuk for his Las Olas Isles waterfront estate. The home spans 5,199 square feet and has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, deepwater access with 85 feet of frontage, and a 250-bottle wine room. Upon being traded to the Panthers in 2022, Tkachuk was credited with quickly changing and defining the team’s current culture. [Homes of Celebs]
