Emma Stone is addressing the buzz about her bee moment at the Cannes Film Festival.

Last month, Stone and her “Eddington” costars Austin Butler and Pedro Pascal were posing for a picture on the red carpet in France when a bee flew into the shot and Austin tried to shoo it away, as seen in a clip posted to X by Variety on May 16.

However, some seemed to be concerned that he shooed it in the direction of Stone, but she confirmed that was not the case.

“He was trying to blow it behind me!” she said on the June 26 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! “He is a sweetheart and a half — there is no way he wanted that bee in my face.”

And when guest host Diego Luna quipped that Butler “brought the bee,” Stone joked it likely would have been her other costar in the photo.

“I almost guarantee you, if anyone brought the bee, it was Pedro,” she said. “He probably unleashed that bee.”

However, she noted that they’re all pals, adding that Pedro is “so wonderful.”

Indeed, Stone has previously spoken on her positive relationships with her male costars. In fact, she shared in 2017 that some of them have even taken pay cuts to ensure she earns the same as them, as she noted that typically “women, in general, are making four fifths at best.”

“In my career so far, I’ve needed my male co-stars to take a pay cut so that I may have parity with them,” she told Out Magazine at the time, per CNBC. “And that’s something they do for me because they feel it’s what’s right and fair.”

She added, “That’s something that’s also not discussed, necessarily — that our getting equal pay is going to require people to selflessly say, ‘That’s what’s fair.’”
