Movers & Shakers: Starwood names C-Suite exec for insurance strategies

In the latest batch of South Florida real estate hiring news, Barry Sternlicht’s Miami Beach-based Starwood Capital Group named Rob Allard as chief investment officer for Starwood Insurance Strategies, according to a press release. It is an arm of the firm’s credit division, the release shows.

Allard joins the firm from London-based Rothesay, the United Kingdom’s largest pension insurance specialist, where he was chief investment officer for seven years, according to LinkedIn.

He has also been a managing director with Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank, LinkedIn shows.

West Palm Beach-based real estate private equity firm Township Capital hired Dominick Commesso as senior managing director of capital markets, according to a press release. Commesso previously worked as senior vice president of business development at Wealthspire Advisors and as a real estate agent with Douglas Elliman in New York and Florida.

Township hired Alex O’Brien as vice president of asset management in January, and Jonathan Sparacio as director of finance.

Douglas Elliman brought in Daniel Kadoch as an agent in its Aventura office, a press release shows. Kadoch has $200 million in off-market listings, according to the release. He previously worked with U&I Realty Canada and London Foster Realty. He was also a personal trainer and stylist, according to LinkedIn.

Coral Gables-based Codina Partners launched its multifamily property management division, according to a press release. The firm is expanding its residential portfolio and says inhouse management services will protect the value of its assets, the release shows.

Codina promoted Eric Blanco to senior vice president of accounting and hired Suzette Fandino as senior vice president of finance in March, and promoted Luis Castellon to executive vice president of development in January.

In Miami, Felipe Azenha and Ben Hoffman launched Built World Advisors, a boutique commercial real estate brokerage, a press release shows. The duo launched their podcast of the same name in 2021, focusing on Miami real estate. They were both previously senior associates with Gridline Properties, LinkedIn shows.
