Lease roundup: Crypto exchange Gemini opening Wynwood office, Amal restaurant on tap in Fort Lauderdale


Gemini | Wynwood | Miami

Cryptocurrency exchange platform Gemini will open its first South Florida office in Miami’s Wynwood. 

The New York-based firm leased 8,800 square feet at the 545Wyn building at 545 Northwest 26th Street, according to a news release from the landlord’s broker. Gemini is expected to move in by May. 

Juan Ruiz and Andres del Corral of Blanca Commercial Real Estate, led by Tere Blanca, represented the landlord.

Chicago-based Sterling Bay completed development of the 10-story 545Wyn in 2021. Sterling Bay is led by Andy Gloor. 

Amal | Fort Lauderdale 

INK Entertainment Group will open its second Amal restaurant in South Florida. 

The hospitality firm leased a 6,000-square-foot space and outdoor seating space at the Icon Las Olas apartment tower at 500 East Las Olas Boulevard in downtown Fort Lauderdale, according to brokers. Amal, a Lebanese restaurant, is expected to open in the fourth quarter. 

Michael Sullivan and Daniel Cardenas of Vertical Real Estate represented the landlord, and the brokerage’s Lyle Stern represented the tenant.

INK, based in Miami and Toronto, has an Amal in Coconut Grove and also owns Level 6 rooftop restaurant in Coconut Grove and Byblos in South Beach. Charles Khabouth and Danny Soberano lead INK. 

The Pérez family’s Related Group owns Icon Las Olas. The Coconut Grove-based firm completed development of the 42-story tower in 2017, records show. 

Interworld Freight | Miami-Dade County 

Logistics firm Interworld Freight will consolidate its Miami-Dade County outposts at the Flagler Station industrial park. 

Interworld Freight, led by John Crespo, leased 226,100 square feet at 9601 Northwest 112th Avenue in unincorporated Miami-Dade, according to a news release from the tenant’s broker. The space consolidates all of Interworld Freight’s outposts at Flagler Station, including at 9705 Northwest 108th Avenue. The tenant is expected to move into its new space this year. 

Héctor Cataño of Cornerstone International Realty represented the tenant. Erin Byers of Colliers represented the landlord. 

San Francisco-based Prologis, a real estate investment trust, owns the building, records show. Hamid Moghadam leads Prologis and will be replaced by Dan Letter at the end of the year. 

Moghadam will remain executive chairperson. 

Barnes & Noble | Kendall | Miami-Dade County

Barnes & Noble will open at the Palms at Town and County shopping plaza in Miami-Dade County’s Kendall neighborhood. 

The bookstore leased 20,400 square feet, taking over the former Forever 21 space at 8268 Mills Drive in unincorporated Miami-Dade, according to a news release from the Palms at Town and Country. Barnes & Noble is expected to open in the fourth quarter. 

Jericho, New York-based Kimco Realty owns the shopping plaza. The firm is led by Conor Flynn.  

Valentino, Saint Laurent | Miami Design District | Miami

Valentino and Saint Laurent opened their renovated spaces in the Miami Design District. 

Valentino leases 415 square feet at 140 Northeast 39th Street, and Saint Laurent leases at 149 Northeast 40th Street, according to a Miami Design District news release. The size of Saint Laurent’s space wasn’t immediately provided. 

Records show the buildings are owned by entities tied to Miami Design District Associates. The partnership is between Dacra and L Catterton Real Estate, a fund established in 2016 by Catterton, LVMH and Groupe Arnault.
