One of Douglas Elliman’s top agents in Florida returned to Compass.
Miltiadis Kastanis, who had been with Elliman for about seven years, joined Compass on Thursday, he confirmed to The Real Deal. Kastanis was recently ranked Elliman’s No. 4 agent in Florida based on gross commission income.
He has closed deals totaling more than $300 million in dollar volume since 2023, according to a press release.
Kastanis said he was “empowered” by his decision to return to Compass, “where I can continue to build on my focused business model that prioritizes my private clients.” He cited Compass’ tech and agent support. He left Compass in 2018 to join Elliman.
Kastanis specializes in luxury residential sales and new condo developments. He recently brokered the $21 million sale of a penthouse at Five Park in Miami Beach, representing the buyer and developer, a partnership between developers David Martin and Russell Galbut.
A spokesperson for Elliman said the brokerage was “proud of the agent [Kastanis] became” under Elliman’s banner.
Kastanis worked on projects that included the Terra-led development of Eighty Seven Park in Miami Beach, Alex Sapir’s Arte in Surfside, and more recently, Witkoff and Monroe Capital’s the Shore Club: Private Collection.
Compass has been on a roll, picking up star power from Elliman. Pablo Alfaro, who was involved in bringing new developments to Elliman, left the brokerage after 14 years to join Compass earlier this month. In February, New York broker Holly Parker, who also operates in South Florida, joined Compass after 24 years with Elliman.
This week, new development expert Dennis Mangone left Elliman after more than a decade to grow Compass’ new development marketing business in New York and South Florida. Mangone developed a reputation for working with developers such as Steve Witkoff, hotelier Ian Schrager and Alan Faena.
Earlier this year, Elliman former senior vice president of sales for development marketing in Miami, Nikol Solares, left the brokerage for Compass.
On the flip side, Elliman brought on Drew Backoff as vice president of marketing for new development. Backoff was previously a senior leader at Compass’ development marketing arm.
