Dr. Natasha Mendez, a pediatric gastroenterologist with Broward Health, said red dye 3 is a petroleum product and has a lot of negative side effects. In children it has been linked to behavioral problems, including concentration and hyperactivity. It has also been linked to cancer in animal models.
