Sotheby’s agent Betsy Sorrel sells Palm Beach home for $16M

Real estate agent and investor Betsy Sorrel sold a renovated Palm Beach home for $15.9 million.

Records show Sorrel sold the house at 245 Barton Avenue to an LLC named for the address and managed by Vernon Nicholas Leopard. Leopard, who goes by Nick, is CEO and founder of New York City-based finance consulting firm Accordion.

John Cregan of Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing, and Christian Angle with Christian Angle Real Estate brought the buyer.

Sorrel is also an agent with Sotheby’s International, and has been investing in real estate and renovating homes for 25 years, according to her bio on the brokerage’s website.

She bought the Barton Avenue house for $3.9 million in 2020, according to property records. It was built in 1952 on 0.2 acres, and spans 3,600 square feet, with four bedrooms, five bathrooms, one half-bathroom and a pool, records show. She completed an extensive renovation of the home in 2023.

Sorrel listed the house for $18 million in January, Realtor.com shows.

The deal marks the latest closing in Palm Beach’s peak season. Earlier this month, an entity tied to Kayne Anderson CEO Al Rabil bought a home adjacent to his 3.4-acre oceanfront compound for $17.6 million. Last month, an entity linked to the billionaire Cox family bought a house on the island for $30.8 million. In November, Barnes & Noble widow Louise Riggio sold her oceanfront estate for $81 million, making it one of the priciest South Florida sales of 2024.
