MIAMI – At least five people were injured Monday afternoon after a boat fire erupted at a marina in Fort Lauderdale, officials said.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said multiple 911 calls were received reporting an explosion and fire involving a boat at the marina on the 1900 block of Southeast 15th Street.
The fire spread to a second vessel before being brought under control, authorities said.
Five people were transported to area hospitals, three of them with traumatic injuries.
Authorities said a sixth person may still be missing in the water as divers, along with assistance from the Broward Sheriff’s Office, were conducting a search.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
