Starwood Capital Managing Director Austin Nowlin sold a waterfront Sunset Islands home in Miami Beach for $16.7 million.
Records show Larry Austin Nowlin Jr. sold the house at 2770 Sunset Drive to a trust named for the address and managed by attorney Bruce J. Smoler. The true buyer is unknown.
Marko Gojanovic and Reid Heidenry of One Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing, and Danny Hertzberg of the Jills Zeder Group at Coldwell Banker Realty brought the buyer.
Nowlin is a managing director and the head of capital markets for the Americas for Starwood Capital Group, Barry Sternlicht’s Miami Beach-based real estate investment firm.
Nowlin bought the Sunset Drive house for $5.7 million in 2020, property records show. Built in 1937 on 0.3 acres, the waterfront home spans 4,900 square feet, with six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a pool and dock, according to the listing. Nowlin renovated the home, which also has 70 feet of waterfront, according to the listing.
The house hit the market for $22.9 million in December, according to Redfin.
The deed lists Nowlin’s mailing address as another Sunset Islands house at 1730 North View Drive, a 3,700-square-foot non-waterfront home that sold for $5.1 million in January, records show.
Earlier this month, Douglas Elliman agent Oliver Lloyd sold a waterfront Sunset Islands spec mansion for $34.4 million. The price fell short of the record $36 million former Google CEO Eric Schmidt paid for the waterfront Sunset Islands home of Craig Robins and Jackie Soffer in September.
