Police in California arrested a Miami male for allegedly thieving a smaller aircraft before crashing onto a seaside and leaving the scene.
Deputies been given a report of a smaller airplane landing “in the vicinity of or on a seashore” in Fifty percent Moon Bay all over 5 p.m. Thursday, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Business office claimed in a news launch.
Law enforcement explained officers located the aircraft, intact but unoccupied, on the sand south of Poplar Seaside, which is about 30 miles south of San Francisco.
A photograph posted on social media by the sheriff’s business office confirmed a plane with striped wings tilted ahead with its nose in the sand and tail pointed skyward.
Deputies found a man matching the description of a individual observed landing the aircraft and going for walks away, police explained.
Luis Gustavo Aires, 50, was charged with theft of an plane and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood Metropolis.
The plane is considered to have been stolen from an airport in Palo Alto, California, about 24 miles by road from the crash web page, police stated.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft with the Palo Alto Law enforcement Office.
