LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA — Harry Defina was strolling on the seaside Tuesday afternoon when he observed an odd website.

There was a guy digging a massive gap. He was alone.

When he got nearer he saw a horrifying scene. Scores of people today have been trying to dig out two kids who were trapped in the sand.

“I’m upset –  no way did they dig that hole,” he reported. 

The Broward Sheriff’s Workplace has said that the children ended up digging a hole and sand collapsed on them.  7-year-previous Sloan Mattingly died. Her 9-calendar year-previous brother survived. The small children ended up traveling to with their dad and mom from Indiana. 

“I am upset. No way did they dig that hole. It was enormous,” mentioned Defina. 

Defina believes the little ones identified the gap and began digging some more till the sides collapsed. 

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea has no lifeguards. Though most coastal communities in Broward have them. 

Hollywood has dozens of lifeguards and the maritime basic safety director says they maintain their eyes on the h2o and sand. 

“If we see a gap, we discuss to the dad and mom and tell them to fill the gap,” suggests Maritime Security Chief Joyce Fuhrman.
