TALLAHASSEE — A Residence Republican on Monday filed a proposal that would stop nearby governments, faculties and schools from traveling flags that depict “a political viewpoint,” together with flags associated to “sexual orientation and gender” or race.
Rep. David Borrero, R-Sweetwater, submitted the invoice (HB 901) for thought during the 2024 legislative session, which will commence Jan. 9.
Less than the proposal, nearby governments, public universities, schools and universities would be barred from displaying flags that represent political viewpoints which includes “a politically partisan, racial, sexual orientation and gender, or political ideology viewpoint.”
That could incorporate LGBTQ pleasure flags.
Equality Florida, a LGBTQ-advocacy group, criticized the monthly bill.
“If conservative lawmakers is not going to stop making an attempt to erase us, we won’t quit displaying up to oppose them,” the group said in a article on X, previously regarded as Twitter.
A Senate variation of the invoice had not been submitted as of mid-day Monday.
