On one particular of Avery Smith’s weekly excursions to her mom’s dwelling in Yukon, Oklahoma, she started out digging via massive plastic buckets of things her mother, Billie Sue Smith, saved from her childhood.
“I was sensation nostalgic,” Avery tells Today.com. She failed to know that she would obtain the single composition notebook that performed a pivotal part in her life.

Avery, now almost 22, was so touched by her fifth quality journal entries that she decided to submit them on social media. “I posted them since I was very very pleased of the way that she communicated with me and the way that I communicated again,” Avery says.

“At that age, I did not like confrontation,” Avery points out. She informed her mother that she was uncomfortable getting direct discussions about her father. She had presently begun creating her emotions out through poetry or her individual diary, and she desperately wanted to converse to her mom, “but anytime I tried using to discuss about it, I would just split down crying and I couldn’t even get the words out.”
“And so I had this notion to it’s possible create in a journal to her and then just set it in her area so that she can create things down that are bothering her compared to coming to me and having this uncomfortable discussion. So that is how it started,” Billie Sue suggests.
She wrote Avery a note and positioned the be aware and the notebook beneath Avery’s pillow. When Avery was ready to reply, she would smuggle the notebook to her mother’s area and position it below her mom’s pillow.
Avery was thrilled to see the journal. “I was considering, ‘Perfect!’ I really don’t have to communicate about it. I don’t have to cry about it. Almost everything that we wrote in that journal stayed in that journal and we in no way tackled it in individual.”
