Daddy Yankee is formally retiring from reggaeton to devote his lifestyle to his religious religion, the rapper said after ending his farewell tour, La Meta (The Goal), Sunday evening in his homeland Puerto Rico.
The 46-yr-old singer created the announcement in a lengthy speech following a larger-than-lifetime performance of his international hit “Gasolina,” a tune that marked the commencing of the globalization of reggaeton and catapulted him into mainstream results back again in 2004.
“My folks, this day for me is the most significant day of my everyday living. And I want to share it with you because residing a life of achievement is not the same as living a lifestyle with objective,” the artist, who also popularized the 2017 megahit “Despacito” with Luis Fonsi, explained in Spanish.
Despite sporting attractive sunglasses onstage, the tears streaming down his deal with were visible to the thousands of lovers around the planet who viewed him closely via livestream.
In his message, Daddy Yankee cited this Bible verse in Spanish: “What fantastic will it be for a male to gain the whole environment, but forfeit his soul?”
“That is why tonight, I recognize, and I am not ashamed to notify the total globe that Jesus lives in me and that I will stay for him,” the singer said with his hand to the sky, adding that he would embark on “a new starting” as Ramón Ayala, his birth name.
