MIAMI – Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi gained a file-extending eighth Ballon d’Or on Monday. The annual soccer awards celebrate the very best players in the video game.
Messi, 36, who received his first Ballon d’Or in 2009, picked up this year’s award in Paris right after captaining Argentina’s victorious Globe Cup campaign at the finish of past yr, the biggest title of the Inter Miami star’s job to date.
The former Barcelona star topped the voting in advance of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Messi’s former Paris Saint-Germain teammate, Kylian Mbappé.
Inter Miami’s section operator David Beckham introduced the award. He promised a social gathering in Miami.
