Crucial WEST — The pilot of a U.S. Navy fighter jet was rescued just after he ejected from his aircraft in close proximity to the Florida Keys, authorities reported.
A spokesperson for the Key West Naval Air Station advised CBS Information Miami that the pilot with the firefighter squadron was pressured to eject about 25 miles south of Boca Chita.

The pilot was flown to a Miami-space medical center for remedy.
It was not instantly obvious what led the pilot to eject from the airplane.
No other injuries ended up claimed.
