(CNN) — Jim Brown, the transcendent athlete-actor-activist who ran roughshod more than the NFL and its report books in the 1950s and 1960s and received many MVP awards ahead of retiring abruptly at the age of 30 to aim on the civil legal rights movement and a profession in Hollywood, has died, his former workforce, the Cleveland Browns, stated Friday. He was 87.
The Browns tweeted, “Jim Brown Forever.
“Legend. Leader. Activist. Visionary.
“It’s impossible to explain the profound really like and gratitude we experience for obtaining the chance to be a modest piece of Jim’s amazing everyday living and legacy. We mourn his passing, but celebrate the indelible mild he brought to the earth.

Soon after he retired from football in 1966 even with getting at the height of his vocation, Brown caught the acting bug, starring in the 1967 Entire world War II movie, “The Soiled Dozen.” He went on to surface in additional than 50 films.
Brown also created his mark as a civil rights activist, working with interior-town gang customers and jail inmates.
Brown led the NFL in dashing a file eight periods in his nine seasons and rushed for a report 12,312 yards.
He went to nine Professional Bowls and was an NFL champion in 1964.
