TALLAHASSEE – About a dozen people today had been arrested Wednesday night although protesting outdoors Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Florida Capitol Business office.
The 14 arrested had been billed with misdemeanor trespass and were booked into the Leon County Jail, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
“Once the setting up closes, until you have an business in the Capitol, you’re not permitted to be below,” FDLE spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger reported, citing Office of Administration Services coverage.
The arrests have been created by the Florida Capitol Police and Florida Freeway Patrol, she stated.
The protestors stated they refused to leave right up until they had a meeting with the governor. The protest was structured by a human legal rights team called the Dream Defenders. Members of Florida Climbing and Showing Up for Racial Justice also took portion in it.
A amount of controversial payments have been passed and signed into law this legislative session, which ends Friday. They contain an abortion ban, illegal immigration limitations and legislation focusing on drags shows, the LGBTQ local community and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
