FORT LAUDERDALE — An elementary faculty in Lauderdale Lakes was positioned on lockdown Tuesday after a loaded weapon was uncovered inside of a student’s backpack, university officers mentioned.
No accidents have been reported following the discovery at Park Lakes Elementary College, located at 3925 N Condition Highway 7.

The principal sent a concept to mothers and fathers following the weapon was identified.
“This morning, our security workforce safely confiscated a loaded weapon that was identified inside a student’s backpack,” Principal Rhonda Parris said. “I want to assure you this scenario did not contain any threats toward our university and all learners are secure.”
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the incident, a general public college spokesperson said.
It was not apparent if the pupil was disciplined next the discovery.
Officials did not promptly say how they uncovered about the weapon.
