TALLAHASSEE – Supporters of a proposed constitutional amendment that would permit the recreational use of marijuana are transferring nearer to meeting a petition-signature need.
The state Division of Elections site outlined 635,961 valid signatures Tuesday, with 891,589 wanted to place the proposal on the 2024 ballot.
The political committee Intelligent & Safe Florida is main the initiative effort, which has been bankrolled by the Trulieve healthcare-cannabis firm.
Underneath the “Adult Personal Use of Marijuana” proposal, men and women 21 or more mature would be permitted “to possess, buy, or use marijuana items and marijuana extras for non-medical private intake by cigarette smoking, ingestion, or if not.”
In addition to obtaining more than enough valid signatures, the committee requires approval from the Florida Supreme Court docket of the proposed ballot wording.
