FORT LAUDERDALE – Homeowners crippled by record flooding less than two weeks ago braced them selves for another blow. Forecasts called for heavy rain just as flood victims see progress toward restoration.

Jose Vazquez feels mired in the struggle. His property flooded with midsection-deep drinking water all through South Florida’s document rainfall. With out insurance and no position for his loved ones to remain collectively comfortably, the retired roofer prepared to correct the harm himself, Vazquez reported.

Days later on, he moved tiny more than a pile of trash and particles. When asked how before long he will be capable to get his property back again the way his spouse and children wishes, Vazquez laughed and stated, “as quickly as I get some money.”

Many others see development in the Edgewood local community where by flooding ravaged 279 properties.

Restore crews stripped Sheryl Henschel’s place down to studs. They ripped out furnishings and appliances. Her insurance lined some instant costs and Henschel hopes they supply more financial support, Henschel said.

Two blocks away Vazquez just hopes the energy stays on in his property. His relatives has been sleeping there without air conditioning or a functioning stove till now.

“Hopefully issues are acquiring superior currently,” Vazquez explained.  “Tomorrow is heading to be improved.”

As extended as there is no flooding rain, he is optimistic.
