MIAMI – Florida’s latest 15-week abortion ban could quickly have an even smaller window.
Republican lawmakers are proposing a six-7 days abortion ban with couple of exceptions. If the monthly bill is handed, there would be exceptions if the lifetime of the mom is at risk, or if the pregnancy is a final result of rape or incest up till 15 months. In those people instances of rape and incest, the woman would have to provide evidence like professional medical information or a law enforcement report.
Governor Ron DeSantis beforehand said he welcomes professional-everyday living legislation, although abortion rights advocates are suing the condition over the existing 15-7 days ban.
Abortion rights advocates also argue that most females will not know that they’re expecting right until they’re at minimum 6 weeks expecting.
Dr. Shelly Tien, who is an OB/GYN, claimed the tighter limitations could make troubles.
“Items can occur in the full length of gestation that can make the scenario extremely, extremely challenging for people and their family members and from time to time the safest issue in part of the discussion with these individuals is to end the pregnancy. Having a ban in position that would not allow that, that restricts that, can make points pretty tricky for people and very risky for clients,” she explained.
If the 6-7 days abortion ban is handed, Florida would be intently aligned with states like Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana which have some of the strictest abortion rules in the place.
