‘Suspicious item’ prompts lockdown at Cypress Bay Higher College in Weston


FORT LAUDERDALE — Officials on Tuesday positioned Cypress Bay High College in Weston on a precautionary lockdown immediately after a “suspicious product” was found on the campus, authorities reported.

The status was later on current to safe after officials swept the campus.

No injuries have been documented at the university, located at 18600 Vista Park Blvd., according to an e mail assertion from a Broward County school spokesperson.

A scholar told officials about the item soon in advance of 10 a.m., in accordance to officials.

“No quick danger has been discovered at this time,” a university spokesperson claimed. “BSO’s investigation is energetic and ongoing.”

In accordance to a social media article by the metropolis of Weston, officers identified a suspicious merchandise “and BSO is now investigating and looking the campus.”

Officers did not say what the suspicious item was.
